HEAD HUNTERS BOXING
SATURDAY OCTOBER 15, 2005 |
This was a splendid night in
White Rock, SC with half of the fight card making their pro
debut.
The excitement began when Henry Flowers sang an awe-inspiring
rendition of the Star Spangled Banner; as always Mr., Flowers
put his heart and soul into this performance.
The rest of the night went something like this.......
Bout one of the night brought welterweight Curtis Smith of
Columbia to the ring to take on Tennessee's Jared Johnson. This
was a fast bout with Smith winning by TKO in the first round;
improving his record to 3-2-0.
White Rock's cruiserweight Johnny Brooks looked productively
good in the ring. Being on his own turf and with the hometown
crowd load and enthusiastically behind him; this younger Brooks
won his pro debut with a TKO in the 3rd round against Terrell
Murphy who was making his pro debut.
The third bout scheduled for 4 rounds brought together super
featherweight females Michele Taylor of Florida and Melinda
Woody. Taylor was in great condition and came out of her corner
ready to fight. However, midway through the first round Woody
could not continue due to a head butt and Floridian Michelle
Taylor won this bout by way of KO bringing her record to 1-3
In this scheduled our round bout between two cruiserweights both
from the state of Tennessee; Lafarrell "Fabulous Fairway"
Bunteng and Joe Grubbs came out of the corners with a lot of
energy. Both fighters showed aggression and good tactical
skills; however "Fabulous Fairway" took the win on this bout
with a TKO in round four.
The fifth bout of the night was another bout with two junior
middleweights from South Carolina making their pro debuts.
Fighting out of White Rock Marcus Brooks meant business when he
entered the ring to go up against Lancaster's Lorenzo Crawford.
Brooks was fast and got the job done fast. Marcus begins his
profession boxing career with a KO in the first round.
And still the undefeated heavyweight sensation of White Rock,
Moultrie "Mooch" Witherspoon was absolutely in shape for this
fight. The round one bell rang and Moultrie was all over
Tennessee's Marshon Perkins, who I believe the ring announcer
said was 3-0! Witherspoon threw a couple of jabs and followed
with combinations and sent Perkins to the canvas. "Mooch" adds
another KO to his record only 40 seconds in the first round.
This heavyweight's record now stands at 7 (4KOs) - 0-0.....Bout
Over!
The fight of the night was the main event with Super
Featherweights Donna "Nature Girl: Biggers fighting our of Head
Hunters Boxing Gym in Boiling Springs, SC and 16th ranked
Tiffany Ibanez from Gulf Port, Mississippi. Both ladies
exchanged a series of punches throughout this bout. The "Nature
girl" blocked a majority of Ibanez's jabs and punches then
return her own combinations and body punches. This was a great
fight and everyone in the house that night was energized. With
the fans and the SC Athletic Commission on their feet, the
judges' decision on this bout went to Biggers. The "Nature Girl"
improves her stats to 16 (14KO's) -2 - 1.
