Stops Jordan in 8

Former welterweight champion Luis
Collazo stopped the durable Russell Jordan in the eighth round of a
scheduled eight-round bout.
Collazo landed sharp combinations to the head and body of Jordan. On
a number of occasions, Collazo would momentarily stun Jordan with
shots to the head.
Jordan came to fight and at times traded punch for punch with
Collazo. However, Jordan began to tire in the later rounds and
Collazo went in for the kill.
Collazo stunned Jordan in the final round with a combination
followed by a hard right hook that sent Jordan reeling across the
ring. Referee Raul Caiz, Jr. ran over and caught Jordan before he
crashed to the floor, waving the fight over at 2:28 of the round.
Collazo won the WBA title in 2005 with a decision victory Jose
Antonio Rivera. Two fights later, he lost the title in a disputed
decision to Ricky Hatton. Now he is is the mandatory to fight Andre
Berto for the WBC Welterweight Title.
Collazo, from Brooklyn, NY, improves to 29-3, 14 KOs. Jordan, from
Rochester, NY, falls to 15-6, 10 KOs.
