USA Amateur
Boxing Loses Icon. RIP President Billy Sharpe
December 20,
2011 |
|
Words cannot express how very sad we
are from the Loss of our dear friend Billy Sharpe. All those
that knew Bill clearly understand what an inspiration he was to
us and the impact he made on our lives and the boxing world. His
strength and power stood out in such a way that was truly
unforgettable to us. He was a leader amongst leaders, never
wavering from his dedication of doing whatever he could to
support children and young adults in our amateur boxing program.
The boxing world is forever indebted to you. I join with
so many others who knew Bill in offering our deepest sympathy on
his passing. Although it is little consolation at this sad time,
it should be of some...More

Hello my name is Billy Stanick. I am
the President of Stanick Sheet Metal and Roofing and the founder
of The White Rock Boxing Gym, a Nonprofit Gym located at 2150
Dutch Fork Rd. I am looking for a small donation of $200 dollars
(Gold Sponsor) to help sponsor new rubber flooring for our
amateur fighters that train at White Rock. The cost of the mat
is $6,000 dollars. Your donation will help offset the cost of
the new flooring and other equipment we purchase on a regular
basis to replace the old. As you may already know we provide a
place for these young men and women to train at no cost to them.
All of the expenses associated with keeping the gym up and
running come out of pocket. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Everyone who donates will receive two raffle tickets valued at
$20 dollars each for a chance to win a $5,000 dollar tailgate
kitchen made by our company.

After over 100 amateur bouts and
several championships to his credit, 17-year-old De`Andre
Robinson-Neal of Columbia SC has decided to take his talents to
the next level. De`Andre has signed an exclusive promotional
contract with Palmetto Boxing Promotions LLC of Columbia, South
Carolina. De`Andre’s father, Dominic Robinson Neal, a
retired undefeated pro boxer, says “It’s time to move to the
next level, “De`Andre has done all he desires to do as an
amateur boxer. He feels he is stagnant now. He can’t get fights
anymore. He’s reduced to doing exhibitions on local pro shows
just to get some kind of ring work. It was his desire to go pro.
My job as his father, coach, manager and confidant is to support
him and make sure he is successful in whatever he wants to do.
For the record, I think he is more than ready to move to the
next level.” Palmetto Boxing Promotions echoes the father’s
sentiments saying “We are proud to have such a talented young
fighter as De’Andre as a part of our stable. This is just a
continuation of our relationship with him and his family that
started when he was just 9 years old. To see his progression...Full

Chris the “Irish Ghost” Fitzpatrick
put on a spectacular display of boxing skills as he methodically
outboxed Scott “Cujo” Sigmon over 10 rounds, Saturday, July 16,
2011 at the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina. Fitzpatrick
came out with a determination in his eyes that we’ve never seen
before. At the end of round one, it was clear to all that it was
going to be a long night for the very outspoken Scott Sigmon.
Fitzpatrick dominated in the beginning with a sharp jab, and he
never looked back. Sigmon had his moments during the fight, but
they were far and few between as the scores reflect. 97-93,
97-93, and a very controversial 95-95. With the win, Fitzpatrick
moves to 14-0 and Sigmon falls to a very respectable 16-3.
Fitzpatrick emerged as the new UNBC Super Middleweight Champion.

The Irish
Ghost Vows To Quiet The Barking Cujo
July 7, 2011 |
|
Chris “The Irish Ghost Fitzpatrick”
will finally get the chance to quiet the self proclaimed
middleweight/ super middleweight/light
heavyweight/cruiserweight, Forest County Champion, Scott “David
Haye” Sigmon’s mouth. On July 16, 2011 Fitzpatrick (13-0-0, 5
KOs) from Columbia, South Carolina will meet Sigmon (16-2 no
real ko’s) of Forest, Virginia in a 10 round main event fight at
the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center in Greensboro,
North Carolina. Fitzpatrick understands he will be taking a
major step backwards when he steps in the ring with Sigmon, but
since he doesn’t have anything planned for the month of July he
decided to use Sigmon as a tune-up before his next fight. Our
only hope is that Sigmon has developed enough boxing skills over
the last couple of months so he at the least looks like a
fighter when he gets into the ring, and not the usual amateur
toughman fighter we’re accustomed to seeing when he fights. In
any event it should still be entertaining. Watching Sigmon eat
crow after the fight will be worth every bit of the admission
price. On the other hand we truly expect Sigmon to come up with
a broken pinky toe excuse to justify why he took such a beating.
Enough with all the junk talking. On a serious note, if you
really want to see two legitimate prospects showcasing their
talents on July 16th, don’t miss Chris “The Irish Ghost”
Fitzpatrick and Lamar Russ who will be fighting on the
undercard. The show will also be streamed live on Go Fight Live
for $9.99.

successful return to the ring, knocking out journeyman Franklin
Gonazalez (13-9, 10 KOs) after only 3 rounds. Collazo (152lbs),
fighting at junior middleweight after a two year absence, could
not miss, dropping Franklin (151lbs) with a straight left hand
at the end of round 2 and twice in round 3 from sharp left
uppercuts. Referee Benji Esteves stopped the fight after a well
placed left uppercut to the body dropped Gonzalez..Full

The
Gaffney Boxing Team travels to North Augusta
From the desk of Tuck Swanger
June 28, 2011

The Gaffney Boxing team traveled to
Warrenville South Carolina the home of The North Augusta Boxing
Team, to compete in the 2011 Pal Boxing Matches. We went down
hoping to get several of our kids matched up, but only had 3
matches out of 8, we can deal with that when the 3 that did have
a match won. JoJo Littlejohn started the night out for us when
the referee stopped the match after JoJo landed several
combinations that ended with a hard left hook dropping his
opponent to the canvas early in the second round. Next up
was Angel Lopez, this was a very tough match but after the third
round Angel got the win, by decision. Next up was Kanard
Lipscomb, that was matched up to an opponent he had met in the
ring earlier this year. I told Kanard that he better
be ready because his opponent would be pushing for the win and I
was right. Kanard was very impressive and got the win then
and was successful again, K K Price, Brandon Sinex, Kama Sagar,
Cody Sagar and Sontos Lopez all were ready but did not have a
match in their prospective weight classes. We have a great team
and work very hard to be successful. If you have not came to one
of our matches you owe it to yourself to watch these young
boxers give it all they have in this tough sport.
