Timothy “TJ”
Hunter advances to the 2012 National Golden
Gloves Tournament
May 1, 2012 |
|
Timothy “TJ” Hunter has defied the
odds by becoming only the second amateur boxer from South
Carolina in recent history to advance to the National Golden
Tournament. I can’t express how huge of an accomplishment this
is for an amateur boxer and the State of South Carolina. His
hard work and dedication to his craft has reaped huge success
for this young man. TJ is a junior at Columbia High School in
Columbia, SC where he balances his love for boxing and high
school life. He is trained by his father Timothy Hunter and
Dominic Robinson-Neal. Hunter will represent us at the 2012
Golden Gloves Nationals Tournament of Champions which begins
tonight, Monday April 30 and runs through this Saturday, May 5
at the Casa Blanca Event Center. About 300 boxers ages 17-34
from states all over the country will converge on Mesquite
located about 80 miles north of Las Vegas. Action will begin
each evening at 6 p.m. This Tournament is the most prestigious
tournament in the amateur boxing world besides the Olympic
Trials.
(APR 30) The 2012 Carolina's Boxing
Hall of Fame Dinner Induction Ceremony turned out great. We had
a crowd of 300 guests with 5 World Champions in attendance.
Background of this organization:
Through the years the Carolinas has produced many outstanding
boxers; men such as Heavyweight Champions Joe Frazier, Floyd
Patterson and James “Bonecrusher” Smith; Olympians Bernard
Taylor and Calvin Brock and World Bantamweight Champion Kelvin
Seabrooks; National Champions Billy Bridges and Pappy Gault to
mention only a few.

Coy Lanbert
gets on the winning track
April 30, 2012 |
|
Coy Lanbert (1-2) traveled to Wilson North Carolina with team
White Rock this past Saturday night and picked up his first win
as a professional boxer. Lanbert was determined to bring home a
win this time. Without the pressures of fighting in his home
state, Coy wasted no time in disposing of opponent with a
spectacular first round KO. Congratulations Coy on your first
big win as a pro. Coy’s next fight will be at the Township
Auditorium on June 16th in Columbia, SC.
Powell takes
show on the road, demolishes third foe in a row
April 29, 2012 |
|
White Rocks own, Daniel “DP” Powell
(3-0 3ko) traveled to Wilson North Carolina last night to fight
a hometown fighter (Anthony Crawley, Wilson N.C.) in his own
back yard. Being in hostile territory did not deter “DP” from
the job at hand. He continued to climb the undefeated ladder by
posting another win via a stunning first round knockout of
Anthony Crawley (0-1). With each fight Powell continues to show
his maturity in the ring. His patients were evident as he
methodically picked apart his opponent with well place punches
until he saw the opportunity to end the fight early. Powell
connected with a beautiful 2 punch combination that culminated
with a straight right to the body that left Crawley wreathing in
pain. Crawley was still down several moments after the referee
had finished his 10 count. Congratulations “DP” for a job well
done. “DP” next fight will be at the Township Auditorium on June
16th.

Seventeen year old boxing prodigy De’Andre Robinson-Neal continued
his rise up the pro ranks by capturing his third win against
Arkansas’ Golden Gloves Champion Thomas Gifford. Both fighters
entered the ring undefeated, so someone’s “0” had to go. After a
hard fought four rounds Robinson-Neal walked out of the ring again
the victor. De’Andre showed a bunch of intestinal fortitude during
the fight. It was evident from the beginning that Gifford was as
determined to keep his undefeated record as De’Andre, but in the end
he wilted as De’Andre used his superior boxing skills and
conditioning to win a...Full
