NEW YORK— As Worcester’s José
Antonio Rivera stood before the microphone in the historic
Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center last week, the WBA’s super
welterweight champion had to be marveling at how far he’d come
from those early days of fighting in cramped, musty confines
like the Webster Town Hall and Worcester’s Lincoln Street
armory.

With a couple of fights falling out at the last
minute and the added pressure of a packed house, promoters Andrew Stokes and
Billy Stanick pulled off yet another successful boxing show and continue to
bring in quality prospects (Marcus Upshaw, Rommel Rene and Omri Louther)from
around the country. Knowing how hard it is to put on a good competitive boxing

On Saturday May 6, 2006 at 6:30 A.M.
at the Colonial Center Patrick Brissey Graduated with a degree
of Master of Arts in Philosophy. We were proud to see Patrick
graduate as this was a great task studying and training for
boxing, especially at the level that Patrick obtained in Amateur
boxing. Patrick won the 2001 South Carolina Golden Glove
Championship while working out at White Rock Boxing Gym. Our
thanks goes out to Patrick for a Great job in getting his
education and his boxing career. We hope that his success will
be noted by all our young amateur boxers as well. I have always
noticed that Patrick had very strong family support in his
endeavors. From the office of Billy Stanick
We are pleased that Earnest & Rita
requested their wedding to be held at The White Rock
Boxing Gym as they have attended numerous boxing events
and have helped with 100% of our shows. Everyone had a
great time celebrating this union between Rita &
Earnest.
(APR 1) With more controversy
than any one boxing match should have Shelby Gross stunned
prefight favorite Bobby Gunn by second round TKO to win the
vacant IBA Cruiserweight World Title. Gross was down twice in
the opening round and appeared to have been the beneficiary of
an extremely long count after the second knockdown by referee
Freddy Boges.
